CAD Exchanger offers the following products related to reading files in STEP format:

STEP file viewer
     CAD Exchanger can read and visualize STEP files.

STEP to IGES converter
     CAD Exchanger can read STEP files and convert them to IGES files.

STEP to ACIS-SAT converter
     CAD Exchanger can read STEP files and convert them to ACIS-SAT files.

STEP to BRep converter
     CAD Exchanger can read STEP files and convert them to BRep files.

STEP to STL converter
     CAD Exchanger can read STEP files and convert them to STL files.

STEP to VRML converter
     CAD Exchanger can read STEP files and convert them to VRML files.

STEP to STEP converter
     CAD Exchanger can read STEP files and convert them back to STEP format (e.g. modifying used shape representation such as MANIFOLD_SOLID_BREP and SHELL_BASED_SURFACE.

STEP to X3D converter (work in progress)
     CAD Exchanger can read STEP files and convert them to X3D files.

Files in the STEP format typically have *.step and *.stp file name extensions.

STEP reader (viewer and importer) supports the following scope of the STEP format:
-    Application Protocols AP203 and AP214
-    Elementary, NURBS and other geometry (including offsets, extrusions, revolutions, etc)
-    Assembly structures
-    Colors, names and layers attributes *
-    External file references
-    Validation properties (mass, center of gravity, dimensions, etc) *

STEP reader (viewer and importer) offers the following user-defined options to fine tune reading process:
-    Model precision (accuracy)
-    Preferred face boundaries representation
